Diana Thorneycroft:
The Group of Seven Awkward Moments
Winnipeg-based artist/photographer, Diana Thorneycroft “investigates the relationship between the Canadian landscape and national identity. Reproductions of paintings by the famous Canadian collective The Group of Seven are used as backdrops to the dioramas I photograph.” Participants in the Festival of the Seven will be able to tweet their ‘most awkward moments’ and becomepart of the festival.

The Mysterious Death of Tom Thomson
Contemporary artist and printmaker George Walker, known for his expressive and meticulously produced wood engraving and wordless novels has produced a limited edition, hand printed volume of 100 engravings documenting the life and death of Tom Thomson.June 21 to Sept 2, AGS, Gallery 2

Ian Tamblyn – Live at the AGS
Juno award winner Ian Tamblyn will be performing live at the AGS. Featuring songs inspired by Tom Thomson and The Group of Seven by the Juno award winner and 2010 English Songwriter of the Year. There is limited seating for this intimate performance with Canada’s legendary recording artist. An evening fundraiser of music, delicious food and inspired drink of the season.Monday, July 8 at 7pm
This is a 19+ event and will be featuring a cash bar. Tickets are limited and are $45 or $35 for AGS members.

Plein Air Excursions to Grace lake
Pack up your pencils, paints and cameras or simply put your hiking shoes on and join the Art Gallery of Sudbury on a historical journey to grace lake, a favorite painting spot of Franklin Carmichael of the Group of Seven.July 19 and August 23, 2013

Jim and Sue Waddington have spent the past forty years tracking down the exact locations from which members of the Group of Seven and several of their contemporaries painted their iconic interpretations of the Canadian landscape. The AGS is publishing their book ‘In the Footsteps of the Group of Seven’ and the book launch will include a book signing and a Group of Seven presentation by the Waddington’s.Film Screening:
West Wind: The Vision of Tom Thomson
The AGS will have a special screening of ‘West Wind: The Vision of Tom Thomson.’Monday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Rainbow Cinemas.
